For Shopify stores with large or complex catalogs

The Catalog Control Engine.

Controlled SEO for complex Shopify catalogs, with evidence-backed content, reviewed changes, and verification after implementation. RankOps prepares the work, shows you exactly what would change, and nothing reaches your storefront until you approve that specific batch.

A fit review is a conversation, not a purchase. Packages start at $2,500.

Reviewed every change shown to you before it ships

Request a Shopify fit review

Tell us where to look and we will tell you whether this is a fit. If a one-time project or nothing at all is the better answer, you will hear that.

If you were offered a review-only preview

Then that still stands, and it commits you to nothing. A preview is a look at what we would recommend on a small number of your pages. It is not the $2,500 Controlled Catalog Assessment, it is not a full unpaid audit of your catalog, and accepting it does not purchase anything.

We'll follow up about your store and the right next step. Submitting this form does not purchase a package.

Big catalogs make small SEO mistakes expensive.

On a 20-product store, a bad bulk edit is an afternoon of cleanup. On a catalog with thousands of variants, the same careless change can rewrite hundreds of live product pages, break structured data across a whole collection, or point search engines and AI answers at the wrong SKU. The risk is not the work. The risk is unreviewed work shipping at scale.

What that looks like in practice

One wrong title template rewrites the tag across eight hundred product pages at once. A broken schema block on a collection template invalidates structured data for every product under it. Weak entity signals get your catalog cited to the manufacturer you carry, instead of to your store.

Fail closed by default

Uncertain data becomes a task, not storefront copy.

Technical content is limited by evidence. Specifications, compatibility, included items, and warranty terms are never inferred from a similar product. When the exact official source does not support a claim, the item is held for a decision instead of being written around.

Held for review

Held, not shipped

Each proposed change is checked before it is allowed to reach your live store. If any of these is uncertain, the change waits for a human decision.

Unpublished or draft product hold
Missing or mismatched SKU hold
Duplicate variant or option set hold
Unverified product identity hold
No exact official documentation hold
Reviewed and approved change ship

See it running

This is not a slide deck. It is a working control plane.

Walk the actual stages, safety gates, and human-approval workspace. On the catalog shown, intake reconciled 16,696 Shopify source rows into 1,022 unique products, cleared 661 as eligible, held 90 for review, and safely excluded 271 drafts, duplicates, and app records, all before a single change was proposed.

Illustrative demonstration

The control plane is shown with a synthetic retailer, "Hearthline". The workflow, safety gates, and reconciliation counts are real. The company is not, and this is a demonstration of method rather than a customer-results case study. No client is named and no client data is shown.

Four packages

Start where your catalog actually is.

Each package is separately scoped. There is no compulsory ladder, no automatic enrollment, and no assumed credit from one fee toward the next. If you already have usable prior work, it is reused and only the new work is quoted.

PackagePriceWhat it isWho implements
Controlled Catalog Assessment $2,500 Find out which catalog problems deserve attention, which pages should stay untouched, and what a controlled first implementation should cover. RankOps analyses and plans. No storefront changes.
Four-Collection Control Pilot $5,000 Build and review four collection improvements and four representative product pages, plus a reusable content standard, before expanding. RankOps prepares and guides. You or your developer apply approved changes. RankOps verifies.
Controlled Catalog Rollout From $12,500 Extend the approved standard across an agreed catalog segment in controlled batches, with verification at each release. RankOps implements approved content-field changes. Theme development is separately scoped.
Managed Catalog Control From $4,500/mo Keep catalog SEO and product content under review as products, collections, and source information change. RankOps handles approved changes within the contracted monthly capacity.

Exact page counts and implementation scope are agreed before work starts. Rollout and monthly capacity are fixed in the accepted engagement, never sold as an unlimited catalog rewrite.

Controlled Catalog Assessment, $2,500: full scope

You receive: a catalog findings report, a baseline summary, a category-direction map, a prioritized issue register, and an implementation-ready scope for the next step.

  • Catalog inventory and reconciliation across an agreed export: product handles separated from variant rows, with excluded, duplicate, and ambiguous records identified
  • A search baseline from available Search Console data and sampled live URLs, recording missing data and measurement limits rather than guessing past them
  • Category-structure review: overlapping collections, product-type versus brand intent, and candidate consolidation
  • Four collection-page reviews and four representative product-page reviews, one per pilot collection
  • One consolidated review pass within the original target scope

Not included: product or collection copy production, Shopify writes, code installation, navigation changes. This package reviews four products; it does not rewrite them. Standalone: buying it does not commit you to anything further.

Four-Collection Control Pilot, $5,000: full scope

You receive: four collection content packages, four product-page rewrites, one reusable product-content standard, an evidence register, and a review package with before and after content.

  • Each collection package: SEO title and meta description, H1 recommendation, introduction and buying guidance, relevant FAQs, an internal-link plan with checked destinations, and placement notes
  • Each product rewrite: overview, supported features and specifications, fit and compatibility, included items, installation considerations where documentation supports them, warranty and support, FAQs, and metadata
  • A reusable standard covering page structure, required evidence fields, manufacturer and model matching, variant rules, and review process
  • One consolidated revision round across the agreed eight pages and the standard
  • Guided implementation, then verification of the affected live pages, with before values and rollback records kept

Not included: additional product rewrites, unlimited variant-specific content, custom Liquid development, theme migration, sitewide schema overhaul, or a navigation rebuild. Entry: a current assessment or equivalent evidence is required, and a second paid assessment is not charged when suitable materials already exist.

Controlled Catalog Rollout, from $12,500: full scope

You receive: an expansion plan with an exact target register, content production across that agreed set, implementation in approved batches, and a completion register of what was implemented, verified, held, or excluded.

  • An exact register naming the catalog segment, collection and product URLs, permitted fields, page counts, evidence requirements, and batch order, agreed before work is accepted
  • Collection and product content production for that agreed set, using the approved standard
  • Metadata and internal-link improvements for the same targets, with unresolved relationships held
  • Claim verification and QA on every rewrite, including variant handling and a human review package
  • Before snapshots, per-batch approval records, and rollback values for the exact fields changed
  • Post-implementation checks on the affected URLs and their SEO elements

Not included by default: new collections, product reassignment, URL changes, redirects, navigation changes, template development, homepage redesign, checkout work, merchant-feed repair, or analytics repair. Any of those is a separately quoted line item. Implementation may be human-operated; this is not autonomous publishing.

Managed Catalog Control, from $4,500/month: full scope

You receive each month: a prioritized work plan, an agreed production and maintenance queue, evidence checks and review packages, implementation of approved changes, verification, and one progress report and review.

  • A monthly plan based on agreed priorities, available Search Console evidence, catalog changes, and unresolved issues
  • A queue that may include collection updates, product rewrites, metadata changes, approved internal links, and source refreshes
  • Implementation of approved content-field changes within contracted capacity, keeping the same approval, snapshot, verification, and rollback controls
  • Scheduled checks on the managed URL set, which is scheduled checking rather than continuous coverage of every page
  • An updated work and exception register so holds and open decisions stay visible

Capacity is agreed before work begins: a metadata correction and a manufacturer-researched product rewrite are different units of work. The starting price does not promise unlimited products, unlimited revisions, same-day response, emergency support, or 24/7 monitoring. Large expansion projects, theme or platform migration, and analytics repair are separately scoped.

The questions technical merchants actually ask.

Will this touch our live store?

Not by default. There is no direct Shopify-write path. The work produces review-ready packages first, and publication is a separately approved action after the relevant workstream passes review.

What happens when catalog data is missing or contradictory?

It fails closed. Draft and unpublished items, missing SKUs, duplicate variant SKUs, option-set records, app and support records, price modifiers, and duplicate products are excluded with the reason recorded.

How do you prevent invented specifications?

Content is evidence-locked. Exact official manufacturer documentation is required before a factual claim can pass. Unsupported numbers, uncited claims, and schema drift are rejected in QA rather than smoothed into plausible copy.

How do we know what you used as the source of truth?

An immutable hash of the catalog source anchors the work to a specific verified input, so findings and decision records trace back to exactly what was reviewed.

Can we trust our analytics to set priorities?

Only after reconciliation. Analytics is compared against Shopify commerce data and undercollection is flagged. Revenue-based prioritization is blocked while tracking is incomplete, so nobody optimizes around bad attribution.

How do we review without chasing spreadsheets?

Each workstream goes through an approval step: approve, request changes, or do not approve. Decisions are exportable and tie back to the reviewed catalog snapshot.

What this is, and what it is not

The Catalog Control Engine is a service RankOps delivers. It is not a Shopify app, not a self-service software subscription, and not a system that publishes to your store on its own. It is also separate from RankOps' other offers: the monthly SEO and AI Visibility retainer at $1,500/month is a general program for any business and is not part of these packages, and the AI Visibility offers are not bundled here unless an agreement says so.

Catalog Control Engine questions

What is the Catalog Control Engine?

It is controlled SEO for complex Shopify catalogs, with evidence-backed content, reviewed changes, and verification after implementation. It is a service RankOps delivers, not a Shopify app you install and not software that publishes on its own. Work is prepared, shown to you, approved, and only then implemented.

Which package should I start with?

Most stores start with the Controlled Catalog Assessment, because it identifies which catalog problems deserve attention and which pages should stay untouched. It stands alone. Buying it does not commit you to the pilot, the rollout, or the monthly program, and if you already have a current assessment or equivalent evidence you can start at the pilot instead.

Does buying a package let RankOps change my store?

No. You own publication approval. Granting access or approving a general direction is not authorization to change anything, because an approval has to name the actual batch, URLs, fields, and target version. The Assessment includes no storefront changes at all.

How many pages are included?

The Assessment reviews four collection URLs and four representative product URLs. The Pilot produces four collection content packages and four product-page rewrites. For the Rollout and the monthly program, exact page counts and implementation scope are agreed before work starts, so there is no standard page promise to quote here.

Do you guarantee rankings or AI citations?

No. RankOps does not guarantee rankings, AI citations, revenue, or indexation, and does not promise a fixed delivery date before scope, access, and source availability are settled. What is committed is the process: evidence-backed content, changes shown to you and approved, implementation in reviewed batches, and verification of the pages that changed.
